L1/L5 GPS Receiver Front End This project consisted of designing a dual channel L1/L5 receiver front end for a single board dual frequency GPS receiver. The design was based on front end designs for a previous L1/L2 receiver, and a single frequency L5 receiver which were also designed by Dan Bobyn Engineering Ltd. The design effort implemented the front end LNA and RF amplifiers, RF ceramic filters, mixer, LO, IF amplifiers, SAW filter, AGC stages and IF A/D blocks. The final deliverable was an RF front end design which is currently being used in a receiver platform for an L1 and L5/E5a product. The
design effort included RF system design, frequency planning, optimum
gain distribution, and resulted in generating the technical spec. Detailed circuit designs and simulation
followed, which led to prototyping and design verification. The client provided schematic entry, layout and technical support to ensure continuity with their existing design, documentation and manufacturing process, as well as to integrate the non-RF circuits into the product. |
