L Band Receiver Circuit Design and
PCB Layout Review This
consulting activity consisted of reviewing detailed design schematics for a
wideband L band receiver already designed by the client, and ensuring
frequency plans, gain distribution, phase noise and thermal noise figure
considerations were properly taken care of.
As well, detailed circuit implementation and passive and active
component choices were reviewed.
Recommendations were made to choose components better suited for the
operating frequencies used, to improve how the power supplies were decoupled
and where to incorporate test points to aid the development and manufacturing
processes. Circuit
board layout recommendations were made on where to partition the circuits,
what circuits to encompass within mechanical shields, what kind of mechanical
shields are most effective and where to place bypass and power supply
decoupling components. As well,
recommendations were given for a tried and true RF friendly layer stack-up
technique, power supply routing methods and where to put ground planes. |
